The best news you will ever get!
Have you ever gotten some good news? Perhaps your son or
daughter did well in school, or your boss gave you a raise, or you found
out you did better than you thought you did on a test at school.
The greatest news you will ever get is that God loves you and wants
to have a real, personal relationship with you.
Did you know the Bible says that you can know that you're
going to heaven when you die?
"I write these
things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may
know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:13
NIV
No one is perfect
We all try to live the right way and do
the right things, but our sin separates us from God.
The Bible says:
"There is no one righteous, not even
one;" Romans 3:10 NIV
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..."
Romans 3:23 NIV
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23 NIV
The Bible says that we deserve death, but that God gave us the free
gift of eternal life, if we will only accept it.
God made a way
God loves you so much that he made a way
for you to have a personal relationship with him. He sent
Jesus Christ, his only Son, to come to earth and die on the cross so
that he could have a personal relationship with you. Jesus rose
the third day and is alive in heaven right now.
"Now, brothers, I want to
remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on
which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are
saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you
have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first
importance: that
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that
he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the
Scriptures..." 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
NIV
"But God
demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his
blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" Romans 5:8-9 NIV
"This righteousness from
God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no
difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as
a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did
this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left
the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- he did it to
demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the
one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." Romans
3:22-26 NIV
Accept the free gift
Jesus
paid the price for us to know God. You can't get to God by
yourself by being "good." The Bible says:
"For it is by grace you
have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the
gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
To
be saved, you must turn from your sins, (the Bible calls this
repentance), trust Jesus Christ alone to rescue from your sins, and confess
Jesus as the Lord of your life.
"Repent,
then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of
refreshing may come from the Lord." Acts 3:19 NIV
"He then
brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be
saved?"
They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be
saved..."" Acts 16:30, 31 NIV
"That if
you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans
10:9 NIV
The
Bible says in Romans
10:13,
"Everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
You can do that now by simply praying a prayer like this:
"Lord
God, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But I believe
You sent your Son Jesus to die in my place. I believe He died and rose
from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me. I now turn from my
sins and am placing my trust in Jesus only to save me from my sins.
Please come into my life now. I surrender control of my life to you.
Thank you for your promise to forgive my sins and save me. In Jesus’
name I pray,
Amen."
