I hope you will join me this Sunday afternoon, January 29, at 4:00 p.m. in Room W-200 for a Town Meeting to hear about a proposed new role for Deacons at Ingleside.
Our Overseers are proposing that we revise our Church Bylaws so that “the primary responsibility of the Deacon Ministry Team shall be care for and service to widows at Ingleside.”
After a thorough study of all the relevant Scripture passages (including Acts 6:1-7; Philippians 1:1; and 1 Timothy 3:8-13), we believe that this proposal will bring greater biblical clarity and fidelity to the role of Deacons at Ingleside.
The proposal was approved by the Overseers at our meeting on Tuesday night, December 20, 2022. It was then presented to our current Deacons and former Overseer Chairmen at a meeting on Wednesday night, January 11, 2023.
The next step is the Town Meeting this Sunday afternoon, January 29, at 4:00 p.m. The final step in the approval process will be a vote at our Semi-Annual Church Conference on Wednesday night, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Room W-200.
We’ve learned across the years that people are “down on what they are not up on.” So, I hope to see you Sunday afternoon so that you can be “up on” this new role for Deacons at Ingleside.

As this New Year begins, do you need more wisdom?
For the month of January, our “A Chapter a Day” readings are through one of the wisdom books of the Old Testament – the 31 chapters of the book of Proverbs (text the word Chapter to 22828 to sign up).
The Sunday morning message series, The Way of Wisdom, is also based on the book of Proverbs.
This Sunday, January 29, the message is entitled, “Wisdom and Our Work.” Don’t miss it!
