Easter Celebrations!

Easter Celebrations!

I recently heard someone ask why Christians say, “Christ is risen” in the present tense. The reason is that it expresses a current reality. Christ did rise from the dead, and he is still alive! He is a risen Savior. We serve a risen Savior every day. And we gather as his people to worship our risen Savior every week.

Of course, this past weekend – Easter weekend – we focused on that truth and celebrated it in a significant way. I am so thankful that on Saturday morning, we have over 900 people at our Easter Family Fun Day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. I’m grateful to everyone who served in order to make that morning possible. You can see pictures from Easter Family Fun Day here.

I praise the Lord that we had 4,083 people in our worship services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. We had many responses from people indicating they are believing in Jesus, are interested in being baptized, or are interested in joining our church family. Our pastoral staff will be following up on those responses and I am excited to see what the Lord will continue to do! You can see pictures from Saturday evening and Sunday morning here.

I have also heard great reports from our church plant partners. Woodstock Community Church in Portland had 82 people in attendance on Easter Sunday and three baptisms!  Dwell Church in Denver had three families in attendance who didn’t know Jesus, and one of them expressed they were interested in taking some next steps. City View Church in Atlanta reported a “packed house” and two baptisms!

Macon Impact

We are celebrating the fact that over 800 roles were filled during Macon Impact, the most – by far – ever! We were able to meet practical needs, pray for and with people, and share the good news of Jesus with people. I am thankful for a church family that is generous with its resources, gifts, and time and willing to serve our community in the name of Jesus.

Overseer Recommendations

Inside the worship folder this week and next week, you will find an Overseer recommendation form. If you know of men who have the qualities listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 and you think would serve well as an Overseer, complete the form and turn it in on your way out of the worship service. Our Nominating Committee will review each recommendation and will then develop a list of nominees which will be presented to the church and voted on in our Semi-Annual Church Conference in August.

As outlined in our by-laws, Overseers at Ingleside have three principal responsibilities:

  1. To provide accountability for the Lead Pastor
  2. To ensure financial integrity within our church
  3. To establish church policies

With the affection of Christ,
