Every Member on Mission

Every Member on Mission

We often say that every member is on mission. That means that every member of Ingleside has a role to play in carrying out our God-given mission.

What is our mission? To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20, ESV). In obedience to Jesus, we want to help people know, love, follow, and worship him…all for the glory of God.

How can you be part of the mission? A lot of disciple-making takes place as we gather. When we come to worship, grow in groups, serve the body, and go with the gospel together, we are both being and making disciples. One way to be part of our mission, then, is to serve in some way when we gather.

So, have you found your place to serve yet? Is our church family benefitting from your gifts? You can always find ways to serve on our website by clicking here.

Disciple-making also occurs as we scatter. In your home, among your friends, at work, at the ball field, at the grocery store, and anywhere else you go, God may connect you with other people as part of the mission he has given us.

As you share the gospel, have spiritual conversations, pray with people, invite them to worship, a group or an event, or meet practical needs in Jesus’ name, the Lord can use that in significant ways.

A joy and a privilege. God doesn’t need us. He could accomplish his mission without us. Yet he chooses to use us and to work through us. We, then, have the great joy and privilege of giving our lives to the most important mission that exists. Let’s pray that God will use us to make more disciples, and then let’s stay committed to being part of that mission!

With the affection of Christ,
