Happy Thanksgiving!
The Bible says, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17). In the original language, the root of the word for “thanks” is actually “grace,” which is closely related to the word for “joy.” The idea is that as we recognize God’s grace in our lives, it produces joy, which is expressed in thanksgiving.
One of the things I am grateful for this year is you! I am grateful for the relationships, the partnership in the gospel, and all the Lord is doing in and through our church family.
So, on this day, a day set aside for giving thanks, let’s remember God’s grace – all that good that he has done for us. And let’s allow our joy to overflow in thanksgiving to God.
As Psalm 100 says,
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations
With the affection of Christ,
